Directions
Enter From and To as addresses, place names or latitude, longitude
coordinates. Select a suggestion to confirm an address, or use the map-pin
button to pick a point on the map. A selected place in Search can
become either endpoint with Start here or Route here.
The map brings selected endpoints into view. Once a route is available, it fits the route together with A and B. Get directions requests a route, and the swap button exchanges the endpoints. Editing a confirmed endpoint removes its old route until the new point is resolved.
Choose how to travel
Driving, cycling and walking use Valhalla. Public transport uses the selected MOTIS or OpenTripPlanner engine. Roads and transit have separate coverage and readiness indicators; click one to open Services settings. These indicators are derived from service logs and can lag actual API availability.
Options shows settings for the selected mode. Driving offers toll, highway and ferry avoidance; cycling and walking show ferry avoidance. Public transport has Departure time, entered in your browser's local timezone. Leave now returns to a current-time request.
Read a public-transport journey
The result shows departure and arrival times, duration, transfers and the steps of the journey. Thick dots identify walking; coloured segments and line numbers identify transit services. Available details include headsign, platform or track, and waiting time between legs. The chosen origin and destination replace engine placeholders in the first and last steps.
Scheduled means timetable-based times. Live prediction appears when the engine identifies a realtime leg. Realtime status unknown means Atlas did not receive that confirmation. A configured GTFS-RT endpoint alone does not prove that a particular journey has live data. See Transport data for setup and coverage limits. Cancellation information is shown when supplied.
Keep your workspace
Search markers are hidden while Directions is active. Switching back to Search hides the route and restores the search layer. Clear route removes the route and endpoints.
Within the same browser tab, route endpoints, mode, options, departure time and map area survive navigation and refresh; the route is calculated again using current data. A different shared search URL takes priority over an older draft. On mobile, the address form collapses after calculation so the result is visible. Use Edit addresses to change the endpoints; scroll the result for later steps.
No route found
Check that the selected engine has street data for both endpoints and, for transit, timetables covering the requested date and operators. A route outside installed coverage may be unavailable even when the service is ready. Error recovery opens Settings → Services and preserves the endpoints when you return to the map.
